The Psychometrist plays a crucial role in conducting psychological assessments and evaluations of patients in a correctional environment. Their primary responsibilities include administering and scoring psychological tests to assess cognitive abilities, emotional functioning, and personality traits. They work closely with psychologists and other mental health professionals to interpret test results, contributing to diagnostic evaluations and treatment planning.

Requirements

  • Bachelors or associate degree in Behavioral Health with two years of experience as a Psychology Technician or a high school diploma with four year's experience as a Psychology Technician
  • Must be fluent in English language, including reading, writing, speaking, and understanding.
  • Must be a supportive team member, who contributes to and demonstrates teamwork and team concept.
  • Able to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
  • Able to deal tactfully with personnel, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public.
  • Possess leadership and supervisory ability and be able to work harmoniously with and supervise other personnel.

Responsibilities

  • Administers and scores screening assessments, intelligence, aptitude, achievement, and other psychological tests to provide test information to Behavioral Health Clinicians.
  • Administers paper and pencil tests or utilizes testing equipment, as provided by the contractor.
  • Administers and oversees the group administration of assessment instruments, ensuring instructions are standardized and in accordance with the instrument instructions.
  • Times the tests and accurately scores each test in accordance with instrument instructions.
  • Provides information regarding the possible limitations of validity for assessments based on behavioral observations and any difficulties that occur during test administration.
  • Receives training on new assessment instruments as changes and updates to the instruments occur.
  • Observes and documents behavioral observations of everyone within the health record within a timely manner.
  • Ensures an environment conducive to test taking, with as minimal interruptions and distractions as possible.
