About The Position

The Psychometrist position at Dartmouth Health involves working within the neuropsychology team to deliver high-quality clinical care to patients with various medical and neurological conditions. The role focuses on administering neuropsychological assessments, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team, and contributing to research initiatives. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational and communication skills, with a background in psychology or behavioral health being advantageous.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and one year of relevant experience in a health or social science, clinical/research setting, or equivalent education and experience.
  • Effective communication skills are required.
  • Experience in administering neuropsychological tests or other standardized tests is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with medical image analysis methods and use of Linux and SGI workstations is helpful.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience as a psychometrist is preferred.
  • Background in psychology or behavioral health is valuable.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately administers clinical and research neuropsychological test batteries, adhering to standardized procedures.
  • Observes and records patient's behavior during test administration; monitors progress and notifies supervisor of any necessary changes.
  • Creates a pleasant and safe environment for patients to elicit their best performance during evaluations.
  • Scores and norms tests according to the scoring manual; describes qualitative errors and completes associated forms.
  • Monitors patients' mood and behavior during testing, notifying supervisors of any concerning ideation.
  • Enters data into databases, participates in quality assurance procedures, and maintains quality standards.
  • Participates in skill development and quality assurance meetings and didactics.
  • Assists in recruiting research subjects, applying inclusion/exclusion criteria and screening accordingly.
  • Conducts literature reviews and manages electronic reference libraries.
  • Participates in pilot testing of new cognitive tests and fMRI probes.
  • Administers fMRI tasks during scanning and documents electronic scan data accurately.
  • Scores fMRI performance data using specialized spreadsheets.
  • Processes structural MRI scans, including data transfer and volumetric measurement of brain structures using relevant software.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned.
