About The Position

Chamberlain University is seeking superior instructors with high professional standards, excellent communication skills, enthusiasm, and a commitment to providing practitioner-focused education. The position primarily targets Industry Professionals to share their knowledge and experience with undergraduate and graduate students in various fields. Courses meet once or twice a week for eight weeks, blending face-to-face interaction with technology for an enhanced learning environment. The course of instruction includes Psychology (PSYC110), which provides a foundation for understanding, predicting, and directing behavior, covering topics such as learning, attitude formation, personality, social influence, dynamics of communication, conflict resolution, motivation, leadership, and group roles and processes.

Requirements

  • A Master's or PhD degree in Psychology or a closely related field along with 18+ earned graduate credit hours directly in psychology courses is required.
  • Candidates with a PhD in the field are strongly encouraged to apply.
  • A minimum of 2 years of teaching experience in an online/virtual environment ranked at the position of Instructor or higher is required.
  • Teaching experience which includes student outreach is highly preferred.
  • Experientially prepared to teach assigned courses.
  • Maintain current regulatory and practice credentials, when appropriate, based on assignment.
  • Possess genuine passion for education and lifelong learning.
  • Have exceptional subject matter expertise as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Are eager to serve students and colleagues with passion, respect, and care.
  • Operate with a sense of responsibility and purpose with the desire to enrich colleagues, students, and the broader community.
  • Able to provide official transcripts for all earned degrees from a regionally accredited institution (all foreign degrees must be evaluated by an approved evaluation entity).

Responsibilities

  • Develops and provides students with an approved Adtalem Global Education syllabus that follows a template established by the local campus, including terminal course objectives.
  • Organizes, prepares, and regularly revises and updates all course materials.
  • Uses appropriate technological options for online technologies and course-related software, including Websites, e-mail, and online discussions for preparing the course and making it accessible to students.
  • Models effective oral and written communications that engage the students, provide clarity, and improve student learning.
  • Sets clear expectations for the course by publishing course terminal objectives, assignment/examinations dates, and weight the distribution of various evaluation categories.
  • Ensures that the content and level of material included on exams correspond to the course terminal objectives.
  • Demonstrates consistency and fairness in the preparation and grading of exams, and provides timely feedback to students.
  • Completes other duties as assigned.
  • Complies with all policies and standards.

Benefits

  • The expected compensation rate for this position is between $715/Earned Credit Hour to $1,950/Earned Credit Hour, depending on the candidate’s education and experience.
  • Actual pay may be adjusted based on job-related factors permitted by law, such as type of course taught; experience and training; geographic location; licensure and certifications; market factors; departmental budgets; and responsibility.
