About The Position

Responsible to provide assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and crisis intervention of acute, chronic or moderately disturbed mentally ill clients under the supervision of a licensed psychologist. Provides clinical consultation services, community education services. Some travel may be required.

Requirements

  • Doctorate (PHD) EDD or PsyD in Psychology or equivalent
  • An active license in the state of practice within 1-1/2 Yrs from the Licensing Board.

  • MSW, LPC, or LMFT with ability to bill for services

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates a clinical treatment program for the diagnosis, treatment or referral of clients/patients presenting moderate to severe social adjustment problems.
  • Conducts individual, family, and/or group therapy sessions in accordance with accepted principles of the American Psychological Association.
  • Assesses progress of clients/patients and modifies or extends treatment program accordingly.
  • Coordinates care of clients/patients with referring physician or agency.
  • Documents therapy in accordance with hospital policies and procedures on medical records.
  • Intervenes as a crisis counselor in situations requiring immediate psychological treatment such as substance abuse, suicide attempts, psychotic episodes and other instances as outlined in hospital policy.
  • Refers client or patient to outside agencies where appropriate.
  • Communicates with family members/significant others to further the effectiveness of client/patient treatment and progress.
  • Coordinates client/patient billing and modifies treatment program in accordance with insurance coverage, plan provisions, and individual ability to pay.
  • Develops and coordinates a system and signage by supervisor as needed as it relates to billable services within the medical record of patients.
  • Provides educational programs on a variety of psychological topics to hospital/community groups as requested.
  • Administers and interprets psychological assessment instruments and outcomes.
  • Follows through with attending regularly scheduled weekly supervision session with assigned supervisor and/or psychology director.
  • Alerts psychology director to any issues or concerns as it relates to policies, procedures, client issues and/or clinic problems.
  • Attends at least 50% of the Psychology Section meetings.
