About The Position

The Department of Psychology in the College of Arts and Sciences at Loyola University Chicago seeks qualified candidates for an appointment as Assistant Professor of Clinical Psychology beginning Fall 2026. The Department of Psychology currently has 36 faculty (24 tenured or tenure-track and 12 non-tenure track) and offers rigorous, empirically grounded training in psychology at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. At the undergraduate level, our department serves 1,200 undergraduate psychology majors plus more than 600 neuroscience majors. At the graduate level, we offer specialized training in applied social, clinical, and developmental psychology. The Department of Psychology is dedicated to mentoring a diverse student body, many of whom come from under-represented and under-served populations. We welcome candidates with strong research and teaching profiles whose scholarship advances an understanding of psychological functioning and its correlates. We are open to all areas of expertise that complement the existing faculty; however, candidates whose program of research utilizes advanced statistical methods and focuses on: (a) individual's responses.to stress, trauma, and adversity or (b) clinical neuropsychology and/or neuropsychological assessment are especially encouraged to apply. Requirements

  • Candidates for the position will have a PhD in Clinical Psychology at the time of appointment.
  • Candidates must clearly demonstrate the potential for excellence in research and teaching and have a record of (or clear potential for) distinguished scholarship, grant-funded research, and student mentorship.
  • Candidates should demonstrate the ability to mentor and support students from diverse backgrounds and must be willing to support the mission of Loyola University Chicago and the goals of a Jesuit, Catholic education.
