About The Position

Oakwood New Vista offers a collaborative, multi-disciplinary work setting for psychologists interested in a stimulating and active environment. The psychologist is responsible for providing evidence-based psychology services to adult inpatient clients with Intellectual Developmental Disorder, Autism Spectrum Disorder and cooccurring psychiatric conditions. The psychologist provides direct treatment to clients via individual therapy, group therapy, skills training, and behavior plan implementation. The Psychologist may complete a variety of assessments including, psychological, cognitive, ADHD, autism, dementia, and adaptive functioning. They model and provide crisis risk assessment, de-escalation, and response. The psychologist is responsible for assessing challenging behavior, designing behavioral treatment, and monitoring progress. The psychologist trains staff in the principles and practice of Positive Behavior Support methodology. They serve as a member of Interdisciplinary Teams providing expertise regarding behavioral and mental health issues. They provide 202B.040 (involuntary admission to an ICF/IID) evaluation and court testimony. There are opportunities to work in our Autism Outpatient Clinic, providing Autism assessment to children and adults and opportunities to provide consultation to community providers. Requirements

  • Doctoral degree in Psychology.
  • License/certified to practice in Kentucky as required by the State Board of Psychology.
  • New graduates able to obtain temporary licensure are encouraged to apply.
  • Behavioral psychology expertise, IDD and ASD experience strongly preferred.
  • Valid Driver’s license.
  • Ability to meet criminal background and drug screening standards.

Responsibilities

  • Provide evidence-based psychology services to adult inpatient clients with Intellectual Developmental Disorder and Autism Spectrum Disorder.
  • Conduct individual therapy, group therapy, skills training, and behavior plan implementation.
  • Complete psychological, cognitive, ADHD, autism, dementia, and adaptive functioning assessments.
  • Model and provide crisis risk assessment, de-escalation, and response.
  • Assess challenging behavior, design behavioral treatment, and monitor progress.
  • Train staff in Positive Behavior Support methodology.
  • Serve as a member of Interdisciplinary Teams providing expertise on behavioral and mental health issues.
  • Provide 202B.040 evaluation and court testimony.
  • Work in the Autism Outpatient Clinic providing Autism assessments to children and adults.
  • Provide consultation to community providers.
