JOB ADVERTISEMENT APPLICATIONS ARE INVITED FOR THE FOLLOWING POSITION: PSYCHOLOGIST EAST LIMERICK Children’s SERVICES, LIMERICK PERMANENT PART-TIME CONTRACT (17.5 Hours Per Week) Salary: € 62,596 -€ 107,162 (lsi) Salary subject to Relevant Public Sector Experience and pro-rated for hours of work. REF: 96500 Avista in partnership with the HSE are lead agency of East Limerick Children Services, a Children’s Disability Network Team in Limerick. We are looking for candidates who are committed to supporting children with complex disability needs and their families, in a family and person centred, community based, socially inclusive manner in accordance with our core values and ethos and underpinned by quality, best practice and research. As a Basic Grade Psychologist, you will join the 0-18 children’s disability network team and be engaged in practice routed in a family centred practice approach. You will be working within a highly motivated team and contribute to collaborative working with children and families and the team. You will provide services in line with interdisciplinary approaches in relation to interventions and assessments. ELCS CDNT is operated based on principles of Progressing Disability Services within Ireland.

Requirements

  • Have a university degree or diploma (QQ1 level 8 equivalent) obtained with 1st or 2nd class honours in which Psychology was taken as a major subject and honours obtained in that subject And
  • Have an Irish post-graduate professional psychology qualification accredited by the Psychological Society of Ireland in Clinical, Counselling or Educational Psychology Or
  • An equivalent qualification from another jurisdiction validated by the Department of Health . And
  • Demonstrate competence in the Care Group/s applied for. And
  • Applicants with a clinical or counselling psychology qualification must demonstrate that they have acquired in appropriate health settings, for the area / areas for which they wish to apply - Disability (Child · and Adult), Child Psychology, Adult Psychology - either at least 60 days or equivalent supervised clinical placements as part of the professional qualification; or at least
  • 60 days or equivalent post- qualification supervised work experience as a psychologist. Note 2. Or
  • Applicants with an educational psychology qualification must demonstrate that they have acquired in appropriate health settings for the area / Areas for which they wish to apply - Child Disability, Child Psychology - either at least 60 days or equivalent supervised clinical placements as part of the professional qualification; or at least 60 days or equivalent post qualification supervised work experience as a psychologist. Note 2.
  • Note 2: Combinations of supervised clinical placement experience as part of the qualification and post qualification supervised work experience within a single care group area to give a total of 60 days are not acceptable.
  • Must be a member of the Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI) or a member of the British Psychological Society (BPS).
  • Applicants should possess Level 1 behavioural competencies of Avista competency framework.

  • Knowledge and skills in conducting diagnostic assessments in children and young people including Autism and ID
  • Knowledge of HSE Progressing Disability Services Programme
  • Experience of working within a complex disability team
  • Experience of interdisciplinary team working
  • Have excellent communication, interpersonal, teamwork and effective caseload management skills together with the ability to work on their own initiative.
