Psychologist Position: Psychologist Location: Correctional Facility, Vacaville, California Pay Rate: $122.02 to $124.02 per hour Schedule: Full-time 11-month contract, with the possibility of extension Requirements Minimum of 12 continuous months of direct patient care experience within the past 3 years in a public or private institution Current clinical competencies Valid government-issued photo ID (Drivers License or Passport) Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association Active California Psychologist license (hard copy required) Benefits Comprehensive health insurance Weekly payroll through direct deposit 40 hours of paid sick time Contract extension bonus All pre-employment costs (physical, drug screen, mask fit test, background check) covered Potential pathway to a permanent state position with full benefits Key Responsibilities Provide psychological services under the direction of the Senior Psychologist or Chief of Mental Health Maintain order and oversee inmate conduct, ensuring safety of all individuals Serve as clinician-of-the-day for emergency patient care, as needed Collaborate with multi-disciplinary staff to foster effective working relationships Conduct initial mental health evaluations covering psychological, criminal, and substance abuse history Deliver services including crisis intervention, group therapy, and individual counseling Perform cell-front interviews when required, which may involve climbing stairs and extended walking Identify and diagnose psychiatric conditions using clinical evaluations and standardized tests Create reports on diagnoses, prognoses, and treatment plans based on clinical findings Document all services provided, including Interdisciplinary Treatment Team (IOTT) sessions Track inmate progress using SOAPE-formatted notes Conduct mental status exams and review relevant medical/legal records Build connections with external programs and agencies to support reentry and care continuity Educate inmates on mental health topics and assist with benefits applications such as SSI Analyze program audit data and contribute to compliance tracking Share patient information only with authorized individuals and appropriate consent Build therapeutic relationships with inmates, their families, and caregivers to support treatment success Represent the department in formal and informal mental health forums Contribute to new program development focused on rehabilitation and mental health services
