PSYCHOLOGIST POSITION SUMMARY

Under the guidance of the Regional Mental Health Director and Chief Psychologist, the Psychologists will:

Requirements

• Must be licensed or license-eligible in the state of Mississippi.

Responsibilities

• Provide intensive evidence-based individual and/or group therapy and crisis intervention for incarcerated individuals experiencing severe mental health crises (i.e., psychosis, suicidality, self-injurious behaviors, delusions, trauma, etc.).
• Assist in implementing evidence-based assessments for incarcerated individuals during the intake process.
• Supervise RDU psychological evaluators, intake investigators, psychometrist(s) and substance use disorder staff.
• Conduct annual performance reviews of RDU supervisees.
• Engage in administrative duties including writing clinical reports and participating in meetings.
• Train MDOC and VCHS staff on managing mental health crises, de-escalation techniques, and suicide prevention.
• Psychologists will administer evidence-based suicide risk evaluations/assessment/protocol.
• Collaborate with and engage in consultation with psychiatrists and other licensed mental health professionals.
• Engage in other clinical activities as designated by the Regional Behavior Health Director and Chief Psychologist.
