About The Position

The Psychologist position within the Veterans Health Administration involves providing essential readjustment counseling services to eligible Veterans, active duty service members, and their families. The role encompasses conducting intake screenings, assessments, and developing individualized counseling service plans. The psychologist will implement therapeutic interventions, perform risk assessments, and provide crisis intervention as needed, all while maintaining a professional therapeutic relationship with clients.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Hold a doctoral degree in psychology from an accredited program.
  • Possess a full, current, and unrestricted license to practice psychology at the doctoral level.
  • Complete a professional psychology internship accredited by APA or CPA.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and ability to apply a wide range of professional psychological treatments or assessment methods.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with Veterans or military families.
  • Familiarity with community resources for Veterans.
  • Ability to conduct clinical research activities.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct intake screenings and assessments to establish therapeutic relationships and evaluate risk for self-harm.
  • Develop and update individualized readjustment counseling service plans based on initial assessments.
  • Implement individualized counseling plans through various therapeutic modalities including individual, group, marriage, and family counseling.
  • Perform risk assessments and crisis interventions, developing safety plans for high-risk individuals.
  • Maintain effective therapeutic relationships guided by professional ethics throughout the counseling process.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
