About The Position

This position supports Mercy's philosophy of patient-centered care by providing psycho-diagnostic assessment and psychotherapeutic activities to children, adults, and families served by Family Counseling. The Psychologist will diagnose or evaluate mental and emotional disorders of individuals through observation, interview, and psychological tests, and formulate and administer programs of treatment and/or make recommendations for care. The role is crucial in ensuring that clients receive the appropriate psychological support and interventions tailored to their specific needs. The Psychologist will develop treatment plans that include the type, frequency, intensity, and duration of therapy, collaborating with psychiatrists and other specialists as necessary. They will analyze information to assess client problems, determine the advisability of counseling, and refer clients to other specialists, institutions, or support services when needed. Conducting individual and group counseling sessions regarding psychological or emotional problems, such as stress, substance abuse, and family situations, is a key responsibility. The Psychologist will also respond to client reactions, evaluate the effectiveness of counseling or treatment, and modify plans as needed to ensure optimal outcomes. In addition to direct client work, the Psychologist will interview individuals, couples, or families and review records to obtain comprehensive information on medical, psychological, emotional, relationship, or other problems. They will select, administer, score, and interpret psychological tests to gather information on an individual's intelligence, achievement, interests, and personality. Furthermore, the Psychologist will develop, direct, and participate in staff training programs, ensuring that the team is well-equipped to provide high-quality care. Adhering to Mercy's safety guidelines and promptly reporting any unsafe conditions or incidents is also a critical aspect of this role.
