About The Position

The Psychological Services Coordinator has direct responsibility for providing a full-range of psychological evaluation and therapeutic interventions to improve the behavior of offenders and provide treatment for mental disorders. The Psychological Services Coordinator operates under the supervision of the Facility Warden and the Psychological Program Manager. Program responsibilities include coordinating behavioral health services; consulting with the psychiatric provider at the institution; and planning and supervising the system of service delivery through direct administration and/or consultation with unit management, programs, and custody staff. The Psychological Services Coordinator will supervise the operations of the Behavioral Health Staff. The Psychological Services Coordinator will plan a system of behavioral health treatment delivery, consult with facility staff on appropriate techniques in dealing with offenders, and develop and conduct staff in-service training in behavioral management, effective offender communication and stress in working with offenders. The Psychological Services Coordinator will manage behavioral health staff to ensure staff and resources meet anticipated service demands, training needs, and licensure requirements. The Psychological Services Coordinator will also participate in other facility and HUB-related duties, as clinically relevant and necessary for behavioral health system function, as directed by the Psychological Program Manager.

Requirements

  • Considerable knowledge of behavior dynamics and psychological principles applying to intelligence, aptitude and personality assessment
  • Knowledge of the selection, administration, interpretation of a wide variety of psychological tests, including personality projectives
  • Knowledge of the principles and theories of interpretive therapy and behavior modification skills in interpreting diagnostic findings and preparing comprehensive reports
  • Skills in determining and conducting appropriate therapy (counseling psychotherapy or behavioral)
  • Skills in relating expressively and dynamically with other people.
  • Ability to organize work, supervise and evaluate the work of other employees.
  • Knowledge of dynamics of offenders.
