About The Position

Licensed Psychologists provide psychological testing, evaluation, psychotherapy, counseling, and consultation to clients or inmates in residential, inpatient and outpatient settings, at a mental health, intellectual disabilities, or correctional facility, or in other settings where psychological services are provided. Under the direct clinical supervision of a Licensed Psychologist, incumbents perform the duties described in the series concept in a trainee capacity. Incumbents may be automatically progressed to Licensed Psychologist I upon receipt of licensure as a psychologist in the State of Nevada. The Division of Public and Behavioral Health, Southern Nevada Adult Mental Health Services (SNAMHS) is recruiting for Psychological Assistants at Rawson-Neal Psychiatric Hospital. Incumbents may be automatically progressed to Licensed Psychologist I upon receipt of licensure as a psychologist in the State of Nevada. Incumbents will learn about psychology's intersection with the criminal justice system, to conduct competency evaluations, risk assessments, psychological testing for forensic contexts, and additional forensic topics, including expert testimony. Under the direct clinical supervision of a Licensed Psychologist, incumbents perform the duties described in the series concept in a trainee capacity, will formulate individualized behavioral plans and token economy programs, conduct competency evaluations, psychological assessments, and risk assessments, assist in crisis intervention, serve as consultants to other departments, develop programming, and provide group and individual psychotherapy.

Requirements

  • Must be licensed as a psychologist in the State of Nevada.
  • Experience in psychological testing and evaluation.
  • Knowledge of psychology's intersection with the criminal justice system.
