About The Position

Join our team at MUSC Health Orangeburg as we seek a dedicated psychiatrist to deliver exceptional care in our vibrant community. At MUSC Health Orangeburg, you will work aligned with a dynamic 286-bed facility within a robust regional health care system, anchoring the northern region of the MUSC Health Charleston Division whose flagship Academic Medical Center is situated just 75 miles South of Orangeburg. We are seeking a board-eligible/board-certified general psychiatrist to join our multispecialty group. This role is an inpatient hospital-based coverage model (Inpatient unit, EmPATH unit, and consults). You will also be a teaching faculty member for our MUSC Orangeburg Psychiatry Residency Program, collaborating with MUSC’s Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences in Charleston for clinical support and resources. MUSC Health Orangeburg Medical Center was first established in 1919, growing from a small private hospital into a robust regional health care system that joined the Medical University of South Carolina hospital network in 2023. MUSC Health – Orangeburg’s network includes a 286-bed acute care hospital in Orangeburg, a breast center with mobile mammography capabilities, MUSC Health Bamber-Barnwell Medical Pavilion, Express Care locations in Orangeburg and Santee, seven primary care clinics, and 15 specialty practices located throughout Orangeburg, Bamburg and Calhoun counties. As part of the MUSC Health Charleston Division, the Orangeburg facilities anchor the northern region of the Charleston Division, which strives to expand access to high quality specialized care from Charleston to Columbia. Existing Specialty services include cardiology, endocrinology, general surgery, urology, behavioral health, neurology, obstetrics and gynecology, internal medicine, orthopedics, vascular services, Interventional radiology, breast care, and outpatient physical, occupational and speech therapy. MUSC Orangeburg has a psychiatry residency and plans to expand residency programs. MUSC Charleston residency programs are also building educational rotations in Orangeburg, so you will have the opportunity to work in an educational environment in a community hospital setting. Orangeburg, SC, is located along the banks of the Edisto River in the Midlands region of South Carolina. In Orangeburg, you will find picturesque lakes and rivers, oak trees draped in moss, open air markets featuring local artisans, lively festivals and celebrations, and homegrown restaurants serving classic Southern fare. Hit the links at one of Orangeburg County’s 12+ golf courses and resorts or set up camp under the stars at Santee State Park, located on beautiful Lake Marion. Visit Edisto Memorial Gardens in the spring to take in the natural beauty of more than 4,800 individual rose plants that date back to the 1950s and give Orangeburg its “Garden City” nickname. If you are looking for a bigger city atmosphere Orangeburg is only 40 minutes south of the state’s Capital, Columbia, and 75 miles north of Charleston, SC. The hospital is only a short distance from I-26, so commuting from Columbia or Charleston is quick and easy.

Requirements

  • Training from an accredited Psychiatry Program
  • Board Certification or Board Eligibility in Psychiatry
  • Unrestricted SC licensure and controlled substance registration

Responsibilities
