Applicants must possess a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) degree from an accredited medical school and must have successfully completed an accredited residency training program in Psychiatry. Candidates must hold a current, active, and unrestricted California medical license and be board certified in Psychiatry through the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. The candidate must also possess and maintain a current DEA Controlled Substance Registration Certificate. Candidates must have CPR (BLS Provider) certification through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross. Certification may be obtained prior to orientation. A minimum of three to five years of experience in an outpatient mental health clinical setting is preferred. Candidates must demonstrate proficiency in the use of computer programs and Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems. The position requires strong analytical and deductive reasoning skills to effectively evaluate patient statements and clinical presentations. Candidates must also possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with strong interpersonal and people management abilities. The Psychiatrist will diagnose, assess, and treat mental illnesses using the appropriate combination of psychotherapy, psychoanalysis, medication, and chemical imbalances that lead to mental disorder. This position is also responsible for supporting mental health care provided by primary care providers and CD counselors treating patients in RSBCIHI community health clinics.
