Requirements

  • Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine.
  • Must have valid DEA
  • Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in Massachusetts.
  • Board eligible/ Board certification in Psychiatry.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in an inpatient setting preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performs psychiatric evaluations, prescribes psychotropic medications, documents, and follows patients throughout their course of treatment while on the inpatient unit.
  • Maintains records, prepares reports, and composes correspondence relative to work.
  • Directs and coordinates medical activities related to patient care.
  • Works with outpatient mental health providers, substance abuse directors, the outpatient and Inpatient Medical Director the hospital medical staff and nursing administration.
  • Adheres to the best psychiatric and clinical practices as learned in self-directed continuing education materials.
  • Works cooperatively with the Chief of Psychiatry and Senior Leadership to ensure compliance with all state regulatory and statuary requirements stipulated by the Department of Mental Health, Joint Commission, the Department of Public Health, BSAS and CMS.
  • Participates in the medical staff continuing medical education program.
  • Supervises Advanced Practice Clinicians as assigned by the Medical Director of Inpatient Services.
  • Complies with established departmental policies, procedures and objectives.
  • Attends variety of meetings, conferences, seminars as required or directed.
  • Demonstrates use of Quality Improvement in daily operations.
  • Complies with all health and safety regulations and requirements.
  • Respects diverse views and approaches, demonstrates Standards of Respect, and contributes to creating and maintaining an environment of professionalism, tolerance, civility and acceptance toward all employees, patients and visitors.
  • Maintains, regular, reliable, and predictable attendance.
  • Performs other similar and related duties as required or directed.
