The Adolescent and Child Psychiatrist (MD/DO) position involves providing a full scope of services including diagnosis, treatment, coordination of care, preventive care, and electronic health record (EHR) maintenance, while adhering to quality management, risk management, infection control, customer service, and safety programs for Access Community Health Network.

Requirements

  • Doctor Osteopathy (D.O.) or Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) required.
  • Completed residency in primary care specialty and Board Certification is required.
  • Minimum two (2) years of working experience in the practice of primary care medicine in an outpatient setting preferred.
  • Current licensure in the State of Illinois, DEA, Controlled Substance and maintain CME requirements.
  • Knowledge of applicable rules, regulations and standards relative to quality assurance, safety and infection control required.
  • Electronic Health Records competency; EPIC knowledge preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain health history and perform physical examinations.
  • Diagnose, treat, counsel, and coordinate care for each patient.
  • Review and update problem list and longitudinal plan of care at every visit.
  • Meet documentation standards and complete all progress notes within 24 hours following the patient visit.
  • Fulfill on-call responsibilities in accordance with the schedule developed by ACCESS and respond to calls within 20 minutes.
  • Prescribe medication in accordance with Illinois statute and professional practice guidelines.
  • Perform all duties in conformity with the quality standards and clinical guidelines established by ACCESS.
  • Meet Meaningful Use standards using certified EHR technology.
  • Manage EHR In-Basket and respond to messages within 72 hours.
  • Provide culturally competent care and recognize patients’ families as part of the care team.
  • Encourage patients and families to voice questions and/or concerns.
  • Conduct patient education activities and document all instructions given.
  • Coordinate with health center staff to ensure patient needs are met.
  • Participate in health center huddles and meet scheduled health center times and productivity standards.
  • Participate in the orientation and training of staff as needed.
  • Ensure care team meets internal certification requirements for patient education and medication administration.
