About The Position

The Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services (DPHHS) has a career opportunity within the Montana State Hospital. Montana State Hospital is seeking full-time Psychiatric Technicians (Psych Techs) for variable shifts, including days, nights, and evenings. Psych Techs provide assistance and support to clients in a therapeutic environment. Responsibilities include supervising and accounting for patients’; provide care as directed by medical and nursing providers; observe, report and document information concerning patients’ physical, emotional and behavior status; provide and assist with therapeutic activities and activities of daily living; maintains and protects patients’ rights; recognize and appropriately response using therapeutic communication and de-escalation techniques with patients’. Employees who have successfully completed training will be places in a specified work shift consisting of five (5) consecutive 8-hour workdays followed by 2 consecutive days off. Additionally, shift differential may be available. Requirements

  • Ability to work with patients that require variations of assistance
  • Ability to utilize equipment necessary to perform routine care and procedures
  • Knowledge of health practices and methods for providing care
  • Ability to make observations and report/record them accurately
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to deal with sensitive and confidential information in compliance with HIPPA policy and procedure

Nice To Haves

  • At least 1 year of experience working in a mental health psychiatric setting strongly preferred
