About The Position

The Psychiatric Technician (PT) provides general behavioral training and psychiatric nursing care to STAR residents. The PT will perform on-site direct care and training with consumers. The PT will provide cross-training to the consumer's community home staff or family. Will maintain credentials in required Psychiatric Technician and required trainings. The PT may actively participate as part of the Inter-Disciplinary Team (IDT) at monthly IPPs, restraint debriefings, and other meetings for the consumer.

Requirements

• Valid California Drivers License (CDL).
• Pass a Drug Screening prior to being hired.
• Clear a Background Investigation prior to being hired.
• Obtain Medical Clearance prior to being hired.
• Possess a valid Psychiatric Technician License.
• Possess a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certificate within 12 months of employment.
• Complete competency-based Direct Support Professional training I and II, or pass the challenge test, prior to or within one year of employment.

Nice To Haves

• At least six months' experience providing direct care to individuals with developmental disabilities who have challenging behavior service needs.
• Demonstrate the ability to provide positive behavioral supports with person-centered practices.
• Works collaboratively with a team.
• Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
