Requirements

Must possess a master’s degree in nursing
Current, valid New Jersey APN license
CNS (Clinical Nurse Specialist) in adult psychiatry / mental health with substance abuse experience
Ability to maintain good interpersonal relationships.
Must be physically and emotionally able to perform the duties of the job.

Nice To Haves

Previous work within the SUD population preferred, but not required.
Basic knowledge of computers preferred.

Responsibilities

Complete psychiatric evaluations of patients 18 years and older with chemical dependency and co-occurring disorders
Prescribe and manage psychiatric medications to treat mental health disorders.
Provide psychotherapy (e.g., cognitive-behavioral therapy, psychodynamic therapy) to patients when necessary.
Monitor the progress of treatment and adjust interventions as needed.
Conduct follow-up appointments as indicated by client acuity and need
Order and interpret diagnostic tests.
Review urine screens as needed.
Work collaboratively with the medical team, clinicians, and other healthcare staff to create comprehensive treatment plans.
Work collaboratively with all members of the patient’s care team, including step coaches and continuing care coordinators
Maintain and follow patient care protocols.
Complete utilization review peer reviews when required
Continually update clinical knowledge and skills through consultation, formal and informal education, and review of literature for their benefit themselves as well as for the healthcare team.
