About The Position

The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner provides clinical leadership to a multidisciplinary treatment team committed to the medical, physical, and psychosocial well-being of individuals experiencing behavioral health challenges, including: Severe and persistent mental illness Substance use disorders Co-occurring medical conditions Daily living, employment, and housing challenges The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner conducts comprehensive psychiatric assessments, evaluations, and diagnoses to develop recovery-oriented treatment plans centered on each client’s strengths, needs, abilities, and preferences. This role includes crisis response, care coordination, medication management, team guidance, and accurate documentation within the electronic health record (EHR).

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
  • Master’s or Doctoral degree in Advanced Practice Nursing.
  • Current RN and APN license in the State of Pennsylvania.
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Psychiatry/Mental Health.
  • Licensed and Certified Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner in PA.
  • Experience as RN or Nurse Practitioner required.
  • Strong knowledge of psychiatric principles and best practices.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical leadership in developing, implementing, evaluating, and revising recovery plans.
  • Conduct psychiatric evaluations and follow-up appointments.
  • Diagnose psychiatric disorders consistent with DSM criteria.
  • Prescribe and manage psychotropic and related medications.
  • Conduct medication reviews as clinically indicated.
  • Provide face-to-face assessments, therapy, and home visits.
  • Monitor medical conditions and non-psychiatric medications.
  • Coordinate care with hospitals during admissions.
  • Provide crisis intervention and emergency response.
  • Utilize Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) for substance use disorders.
  • Participate in involuntary psychotropic medication hearings as requested.
  • Ensure complete and accurate documentation in the EHR.
  • Inspire and guide staff in trauma-informed, recovery-focused care.
  • Collaborate with the Team Leader to provide clinical supervision.
  • Participate in recovery planning and daily staff meetings.
  • Provide consultation and education to non-medical team members.
  • Facilitate collaboration with primary care and medical specialists.
  • Maintain professional boundaries and ethical standards.
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA, Federal and State laws, and company policies.
  • Adhere to OSHA, Fire Safety, and Personnel policies.
  • Observe DHSS, CARF, and DSAMH regulations.
  • Attend required trainings and meetings.
  • Accurately document time worked.
  • Maintain professionalism and sound clinical judgment at all times.
