Requirements

  • Current NH Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner license (with psychiatric specialization)
  • Current NH Registered Nurse License
  • Certification by applicable psychiatric professional body
  • Current BLS Certification
  • Minimum 1 year of psychiatric NP experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Complete psychiatric evaluations, diagnosis, and mental status exams
  • Assess risk, including suicide, homicide, and safety concerns
  • Screen for substance use disorders and co-occurring conditions
  • Prescribe and manage psychiatric medications
  • Monitor progress, side effects, adherence, and therapeutic response
  • Provide supportive therapy and evidence-based interventions (CBT, DBT, crisis stabilization)
  • Offer psychoeducation to patients and families
  • Partner with primary care, behavioral health, and social work teams
  • Coordinate referrals for therapy, substance use services, or specialty care
  • Advocate for patient needs across systems
  • Uphold HIPAA, ethical standards, and state/federal regulations
  • Participate in quality improvement and compliance activities
  • Maintain thorough, timely documentation in the EMR
