About The Position

The role of the Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner is to assess, diagnose and treat the mental health needs of patients. General Duties and Responsibilities: Collaborates with staff Psychiatrist and/or Medical Director regarding patient care. Work collaboratively in a team-based environment with other mental health clinicians, staff, and primary care providers Assess patients by conducting evaluations Analyze data and results of screening tools to assist in diagnosing patients and evaluating treatment response Diagnose mental health disorders, provide recommendations for treatment, and prescribe medications when indicated Provide follow-up for monitoring symptoms and treatment response Monitor for medication side effects Collaborate with patients in developing treatment plans that address their mental health concerns and psychosocial needs Collaborate with patients in creating safety plans Routinely assess patient safety and refer to higher level of care when indicated Provide crisis intervention as needed Collaborate with physicians, nurses, therapists, and case managers in the practice to monitor symptoms and address whole-patients’ needs Collaborate with outside physicians, therapists, service coordinators, and/or other clinical professionals to address treatment goals, clinical progress, and other patient needs Gather and maintain patient information and records in the EMR, including medical history, medication history, and psychosocial history obtained from patients Gather information from primary supports and/or other professionals when clinically indicated or requested by patients Provide information to family/primary supports when requested by patients and make sure an ROI has been signed Complete all necessary clinical documentation in an accurate and timely manner Participate in weekly Collaborative Care team meetings Collaborate with PCPs and Collaborative Care Manager to assist in management of mental health disorders treated in the primary care clinic Improve staff competence by providing training and education regarding the interrelationship between psychiatric disorders, physical illness, psychosocial concerns, and medications Keep up to date on clinical care by participating in continuing medical educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations

Requirements

  • Active and unrestricted full licensure as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner in the state of Pennsylvania
  • Successful passing of Child Abuse and FBI Clearances.
  • Experience working in, or providing administrative support for, an IOP or PHP program
  • Knowledge and experience working with Medicaid (CCBH) in Allegheny County, PA
  • Collaborative leadership style

  • Need to be culturally competent while working, including being gender sensitive and pronoun aware
  • Completely understand the healthcare privacy laws as outlined in HIPAA
  • Punctuality and impeccable attendance
