About The Position

As a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner at Recovery Centers of America (RCA), you will be responsible for the care and needs of patients in a psychiatric unit. Your role will involve diagnosing mental illness, prescribing medication, and acting as a therapist to help patients with conditions such as depression, anxiety, and suicidal tendencies. You will be part of a dedicated team that aims to help individuals achieve recovery from addiction and mental health issues.

Requirements

  • Master's, postgraduate, or doctoral degree from a psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner program accredited by CCNE or ACEN.
  • Current Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner certification from the ANCC.
  • 2+ years' experience as an RN; 3 years' experience as a psychiatric nurse practitioner preferred.
  • Valid NP license in the state of practice.
  • Active DEA (and CDS if required by state) license.
  • Up to date CPR or BLS certification strongly preferred.
  • Critical thinking skills and ability to formulate accurate medical/psychiatric assessment.
  • Understanding of ASAM criteria and levels of care.
  • Ability to safely prescribe medications and administer as needed.
  • Competency in performing CLIA waived testing as needed.
  • Proficiency in screening and assessing for suicide ideation and aggression.
  • Demonstrated ethics in integrity, honesty, responsibility, and credibility.
  • Ability to provide direct mental health care services and synthesize theoretical, scientific, and clinical knowledge.
  • Demonstrated personal, collegial, and collaborative approach to patient care.
  • Cultural competence in delivering patient care with respect to cultural and spiritual beliefs.

  • Experience in addiction treatment.
  • Familiarity with evidence-based treatment modalities.

Responsibilities

  • Assess, examine, diagnose, and treat patients with mental illness by conducting a comprehensive family assessment.
  • Collect data from multiple sources using assessment techniques appropriate to the patient's language, culture, and development state.
  • Assess the impact of acute and/or chronic illness, psychiatric disorders, and stressors on the family system.
  • Perform initial history and physical examination, and intermittent medical assessments as warranted.
  • Involve patients, significant others, and interdisciplinary team members in data collection and analysis.
  • Teach patients' families about the patients' condition and how to react in certain scenarios.
  • Develop a plan of care.
  • May prescribe medications.
  • Educate patients on medications for addiction treatment (MAT).
