About The Position

Requirements

• Eligibility for licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Alaska.
• Successful completion of a formal training plan as a Psychiatric Nurse 1 with the State of Alaska or one year of entry-level experience as a Registered Nurse.
• Experience working with mentally ill or developmentally disabled individuals is preferred.
• Good organizational skills and ability to manage time effectively under pressure.
• Above-average communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide skilled nursing care to patients.
• Conduct individualized patient assessments and care.
• Administer medications and educate patients on expected outcomes and side effects.
• Transcribe orders and maintain accurate Medication Administration Records (MAR).
• Complete nursing assessments on newly admitted patients and those requiring close observation.
• Determine and prioritize individual nursing needs.
• Direct Office Assistants and Psychiatric Nurse Assistants, including work assignments and monitoring.
