About The Position

Thundermist's Mission: To improve the health of our patients and communities by delivering exceptional health care, removing barriers to that care, and advancing healthy lifestyles. General Responsibilities: The faculty nurse practitioner is responsible for providing psychiatric mental health care, within the limits of the training of a nurse practitioner, to assigned patients. The nurse practitioner is a licensed, autonomous provider executing professional clinical judgment in the care of Thundermist patients, according to the guidelines, policies and procedures set forth by Thundermist Health Center. The Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Fellowship program is an accredited program through the Consortium for Advanced Practice Providers to provide recent NP graduates with on-the-job training to gain confidence and competence to start a successful career. The fellowship consists of three core elements: precepted clinic, didactics, and specialty rotations. Fellows are precepted through the psychiatric care experience by expert MDs and NPs that are fully dedicated to their training and patient panels. Fellows also participate in weekly post-graduate didactics sessions which are CME approved and focus on case studies observed in clinic. Fellows participate in a weekly specialty rotation to expand the breadth of the knowledge that they bring back to their patient panel. Other general responsibilities include participating in clinical quality meetings, submitting journal entries and program evaluations, participating in pharmacy consult meetings and other program related meetings.

Requirements

  • Successful completion of MS, MSN, or DNP program
  • RI RN, APRN and CSR Licensure
  • ANCC or AANP Board Certification in the specialty of practice PRIOR TO AUGUST of the cohort year (Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner)
  • Current and Active DEA
  • Current and Active BLS
  • Ongoing CEU to update skills/therapies & meet licensure requirements
  • Exceptional oral and written skills
  • Proficient in all applicable medical terminology.
  • Good interpersonal skills

  • Participation in initial 4–6 weeks of orientation
  • Participation in weekly fellowship debriefs
  • Participation in weekly Didactic sessions
  • Participation in intermittent departmental and team meetings
  • Completion of weekly Reflective Journal
