As part of our success and innovation in the field we are seeking qualified applicants for a part time Behavioral/Psychiatric Health Technician position. Position Description Behavioral/Psychiatric Health Technicians carry out the daily routines of patient care under the direction of the Lead Tech, Registered Nurse and Shift Supervisor.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- CPR certified (Can obtain once hired)
Nice To Haves
- Bachelors degree in Psychology or Human Services related field preferred but not required
- Experience working as a psychiatric technician preferred
Responsibilities
- Assisting in the ongoing assessment of the safety and emotional needs of each patient.
- Demonstrating awareness of the key elements of the treatment plans for all assigned patients and provides intervention/care accordingly on an individualized basis.
- Assisting patients with their personal grooming and personal hygiene, appropriate to the patient’s age, developmental level and needs.
- Participating in assigned groups and activities to meet the needs of various patient populations.
- Demonstrating the ability to maintain therapeutic and professional rapport with patients.
- Participating with other personnel in maintaining a safe and therapeutic milieu. Provides verbal de-escalation techniques and physical management, as needed.
- Making rounds on patients every 15 minutes or sooner to provide patient safety.
- Assisting the RN with patient admissions and discharges. Performs vital signs, belongings searches, and orientation to the unit.
