About The Position

The Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) role at Amber Creek Counseling and Psychiatry involves providing comprehensive mental health care to patients through in-person and teletherapy sessions. The PMHNP will manage their own caseload, conduct psychiatric evaluations, prescribe medications, and develop treatment plans while ensuring compliance with documentation and insurance requirements. Requirements

  • Master's or Doctorate Degree in Nursing with a focus on Psychiatric nursing.
  • Graduation from a state-certified advanced practice program specializing in psychiatry/mental health.
  • At least 1-2 years providing direct client care to persons receiving treatment for psychiatric disorders.
  • Excellent knowledge and familiarity with current DSM-5 criteria.
  • Strong functional knowledge of general psychiatric principles and practices.
  • Must be certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP).
  • An unrestricted license to practice as an advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) in the state of Utah.
  • Must have a valid DEA number and unrestricted DEA license in Utah.
  • A state-issued Controlled Substance Registration (CSR) in Utah.
  • Registration with the state Prescription Monitoring Program (PMP) for Utah.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with TMS and/or Ketamine treatments for severe cases is a plus, but not required.
  • Passion for continuity of learning and looking for the best treatment options available for patients.
  • A proactive approach with a strong work ethic and desire to participate in a collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assess patients by conducting and analyzing psychiatric evaluations, including intake forms, interviews, medical histories, assessments, and observations to diagnose patients.
  • Treat patients by utilizing evidence-based methods and medications, patient education, monitor response to medication, provide recommendations for treatment plans, and discuss progress toward goals.
  • Complete all necessary clinical documentation in an accurate and timely manner, including ability to accurately code clinical encounters with CPT and diagnosis codes.
  • Start and stop appointments in a timely manner, develop rapport with clients to facilitate a healthy professional relationship, and manage appropriate ethical boundaries with clients.
  • Exercise sound clinical and professional judgment.
  • Maintain a collaborative approach with a broader team of health professionals, including physicians, therapists, clergy, insurance, etc as required.
  • Communicate and support discharge planning with hospital ER when clients access emergency services.
  • Maintain open communication with administration by participation in clinical meetings, timely responses to emails and other written/verbal communication, and providing constructive feedback.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and attitude in face-to-face interactions as well as on social media.
  • Follow strict HIPAA guidelines, maintain confidentiality of clients and proprietary information at all times.
