About The Position

The Nurse Practitioner contributes to IHC's mission and goals of client satisfaction, quality of care, and productivity by providing primary health care services to IHC patients with an emphasis on preventive care. Evaluation of performance Performance will be evaluated based on meeting specific quality of care goals, productivity measures, patient satisfaction scores, and other quality indicators for this position such as: IHC strategic objectives; site strategic objectives; functional capabilities; leadership and/or employee capabilities; IHC commitments, quality measures, and productivity measures. Application of knowledge Knowledge of professional health care principles, and methods, together with extended clinical experience; knowledge permits the Nurse Practitioner to plan steps, carry out multiphase projects, coordinate work with others, and modify techniques to solve a wide range of problems. Medical Provider: Performs physical examinations and assessments appropriate for patient's age, establishing data base and medical history. Diagnoses illnesses and/or conditions and establishes acceptable plans of management under supervision and in consultations with supervising physicians. Provides counseling and patient education for preventive care, medications, and basic nutrition. Attends and participates in clinic staff meetings. Assists, participates and/or conducts other clinic-related projects and programs with the approval of the Site Medical Director. Follows HIPAA and OSHA standards for medical care providers. Job controls and complexity The NP carries out work with minimal supervisory and modifies or extends guidelines that do not cover all situations and problems. The supervising/collaborating physician provides direction to the NP on methods only for unprecedented work. Processes and procedures vary from one assignment to the next, although assignments are related in function and objective. Based on the assignment, the NP must use diverse but conventional methods, techniques and approaches. Medical - Able to: Demonstrate knowledge of current theory and practice of public health nursing. Demonstrate strong community health orientation including sensitivity to cultures represented in populations served by IHC and positive customer service skills. Demonstrate knowledge of basic clinic practices, techniques and methods of operation. Use of standard medical examination instruments and equipment. Prepare and maintain accurate medical records. Demonstrate knowledge of current theory and practice of primary care medicine as practiced in the United States. Demonstrate strong community health orientation including sensitivity to cultures represented in populations served by IHC. Demonstrate ability to work cooperatively with a multidisciplinary clinical team utilizing a balanced approach to health care issues by including perspectives of business, administrative and medical disciplines. Physical demands and work environment Work is considered moderately strenuous with moderate risk. Nurse Practitioner may stand for long periods and is required to use special gear or clothing due to potential risk from chemicals and/or diseases.

Requirements

Graduation from an accredited master's degree Nurse Practitioner program from an accredited university or college.
Qualify for and receive a Nurse Practitioner license to practice in the State of Indiana.
Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) requires Board certification in FNP specialty; Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP) requires Board certification in PNP specialty; Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) requires Board certification in PMHNP specialty.
