About The Position

In this role, the Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner will provide high-quality mental health care to patients across a wide range of psychiatric disorders. Primary responsibilities include performing thorough assessments, diagnosing conditions, and designing effective treatment plans that may include therapy and medication management. You will work within a collaborative team environment, focusing on patient-centered care and advocating for mental health and wellness. Bilingual Spanish speaking PMHNP's already enrolled in Medicaid encouraged to apply.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Nursing with specialization in Psychiatric-Mental Health.
  • At least two (2) years of experience in psychiatric nursing or a related field.
  • Proficient in assessing and treating a variety of psychiatric disorders.
  • Able to build meaningful therapeutic relationships with patients.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative approach.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Proficient in electronic health records and basic computer applications.
  • Board-certified as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC).
  • Licensed to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in New York State.
  • Current certification in CPR/ BLS.

Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive mental health assessments and evaluations of patients.
  • Diagnose psychiatric conditions and formulate individualized treatment plans.
  • Offer medication management and supportive therapy, considering the diverse needs of patients.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to provide holistic patient care.
  • Educate patients and families about mental health issues and treatment options.
  • Document patient care and maintain accurate records in line with agency policies.
  • Participate in training and professional development opportunities to stay informed of the best practices.
  • Contribute to case discussions and collaborate on treatment goals for improved patient outcomes.
