About The Position

This psychiatric provider works as a member of the integrated behavioral health program in Outside In’s medical clinics. Provides Care for diverse population of patients in Federally Qualified Health Centers and outreach sites. Outside In provides care to patients with current and historical barriers to access health care.. This position provides psychiatric consultation, medication management, assessment, mental health and substance abuse treatment referral and provides support to primary care team around prescribing and issues of psychiatric care.

Requirements

  • Knowledge Knowledge and understanding of adolescent development, Trauma Informed Care, Stages of Change Theory, harm reduction and Motivational Interviewing.
  • Knowledge of psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis and treatment.
  • Knowledge of psychotropic medication.
  • Skills Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and focus on data collection.
  • Ability to work with a variety of clients and diagnostic categories.
  • Ability to work with a diverse population and interact effectively with different types of people.
  • Good communication and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as a member of a team.
  • Ability to support agency goals and the operational functioning of the Clinic and Health Services Department
  • Ability to complete all required documentation and information input in a professional, thorough, and timely manner.
  • Commitment to continual learning and quality performance.
  • Ability to maintain professional boundaries and performance at all times.
  • Ability to navigate technologies used in this position including EPIC Electronic Health Record, MS Office Applications, and Windows Server.
  • State Board recognized medical education
  • Oregon state license
  • Currently holds or able to obtain dispensing license in Oregon
  • Experience with underserved population is highly desirable
  • Support agency mission and goals
  • Must pass pre-employment background check. This includes clearance by the DHS Background Check Unit.
  • Standing, sitting, walking, on a regular basis.
  • Regular use of hands and fingers to type.
  • Talking and hearing is required on a regular basis.
  • Occasional driving, climbing, balancing, reaching, kneeling, crouching, stooping and lifting.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in primary care and or with Federally Qualified Health Centers.

Responsibilities

  • Participate on interdisciplinary team that provides integrated behavioral health care in a primary care setting.
  • Provide psychiatric evaluations of agency patients.
  • Provide screening and assessment of patient’s medical needs, including lab tests.
  • Provide medication prescription and ongoing medication management in individual or group settings.
  • Provide support and expertise on agency policies regarding patient psychiatric needs.
  • Collaborate in creation of policies and procedures as needed.
  • Determine medical necessity and appropriateness of mental health services for eligible clients.
  • Provide case consultation to primary care providers and other agency clinicians.
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date records on clients and follows agency billing requirements.
  • Work cooperatively with primary care and mental health teams.
  • Ensure timely documentation of services and outcomes.
  • Adhere to all state and federal privacy regulations and to Outside In policies and agreements regarding confidentiality, privacy, and security.
