About The Position

Ballad Health is seeking a Psychiatric / Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) to join our collaborative behavioral health team. This position is ideal for a provider who values integrated care and is passionate about expanding access to mental health services within a primary care setting. The PMHNP functions as an independent licensed practitioner, evaluating and treating patients referred by primary care providers and community-based counselors. Working in close collaboration with both behavioral health and primary care team members, the PMHNP helps ensure that community members receive timely, compassionate, and stigma-free access to mental health treatment. Our integrated care model provides a full spectrum of services tailored to patient needs—from informal peer consultations to comprehensive psychiatric care including pharmacotherapy, counseling, and case management. Embedding these services within primary care clinics allows patients to receive support in a comfortable, familiar environment, while also fostering daily collaboration, shared learning, and interdisciplinary teamwork among providers. The PMHNP will work under the supervision of a psychiatry physician located nearby, maintaining compliance with all licensing and payer requirements. Together, the psychiatrist and PMHNP will establish and sustain a high standard of individualized patient care. Many treatment plans will be initiated and managed by primary care providers, with the PMHNP serving as a consultant and resource for ongoing psychiatric support.
