The PMHNP will collaborate as part of an interdisciplinary team to ensure the highest standards of care are provided to those we serve. Our team of PMHNPs is composed of compassionate professionals who play a formative role in community mental health, resulting in positive community impact. The ideal candidate is a dedicated professional who is ready to take on a challenge and is passionate about mental health. Preferred candidates will be dually licensed as a Family Nurse Practitioner and a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. However, we will also consider candidates who are board certified as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. You are committed to providing high-quality, compassionate care and thrive in a collaborative, team-based environment.

Requirements

  • APRN in good standing, with a PMHNP-BC and either able to practice in Kansas or willing to become licensed
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Basic computer skills
  • Current, active DEA and CPR certified
  • Results of criminal and all other applicable background checks must meet the approval of Pawnee Mental Health Services.

Nice To Haves

  • Dual credentials as a Family Nurse Practitioner and Psychiatry Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
  • Prior experience in a community mental health setting
  • Experience with Microsoft Office software

Responsibilities

  • Conduct psychiatric evaluations of mental health center clients as referred.
  • Provide medication management and education services consistent with client needs.
  • Meet and comply with all administrative and clinical documentation requirements.
  • Meet personal and departmental direct service expectations and goals.
  • Utilize staff psychiatrists for supervision and case consultation as necessary.
  • Provide case consultation to the agency’s clinical staff as needed.
  • Facilitate and evaluate admissions to inpatient mental health or substance use treatment when required.
  • Attend and participate in staff meetings as required.
  • Participate in the Quality, Risk and Utilization Review process, including peer review, as assigned by the Medical Director and/or Assistant Director.
  • Maintain educational requirements regarding current best practices, medications, and treatments.
  • Collaborate with administrative and support staff to ensure efficiency in scheduling client appointments, follow-up, consultations, phone calls, and paperwork time.
  • Collaborate with nursing staff to ensure effective follow-up, monitoring, and education regarding medication and symptoms of mental illness with clients and family members.
  • Maintain and advance knowledge and skills related to the field through regular review of pertinent materials and attendance at training events.
  • Adhere to standards, policies, and instructions established by PMHS Policy and Procedure and applicable ethical codes.
  • Review and comply with the Pawnee Code of Conduct outlined in the Employee Handbook.
  • Perform other reasonably related duties as assigned by immediate supervisor or management personnel.
