About the position

The specialty nurse practitioner (NP) in the ambulatory care setting works in collaboration with a multidisciplinary health care team. The specialty NP is generally service/physician aligned, managing a distinct patient population in the outpatient setting. The NP functioning primarily in a clinic setting may be required to perform some coordination of inpatient care and facilitate discharges/outpatient follow up. The specialty clinic NP has a strong foundation in evidenced based practice/education and is responsible for ensuring adherence to clinical pathways/protocols and ensures an environment of safe quality care. The NP demonstrates an advanced level of medical and nursing knowledge, clinical/technical competence, sound clinical judgment, professional communication skills, timely and compliant documentation, and responsible for professional development and competency validation.

Responsibilities

  • Delivers projects/assignments that have a direct impact on goals/objectives of the unit/department.
  • Conducts extensive analysis of situations or data to resolve numerous, complex issues.
  • Has in-depth level of knowledge within a professional area and working knowledge of other areas.
  • May lead mid-sized projects; coaches and guides team members.
  • Seeks to understand current and future needs of relevant stakeholders and customizes services to better address them.
  • Approaches problems from different angles; identifies new possibilities to interpret opportunities and develop concrete solutions.
  • Provides ongoing support and coaching in a constructive manner to increase employees' effectiveness.
  • Engages regularly in formal and informal dialogue about quality; directly addresses quality issues promptly.
  • Applies various learning experiences by looking beyond symptoms to uncover underlying causes of problems.
  • Understands all aspects of providing a safe environment and performs routine safety checks to prevent safety hazards.
  • Demonstrates a sense of ownership, focusing on and driving critical issues to closure.
  • Applies understanding of the departmental work to effectively manage resources for a department/area.
  • Demonstrates strong understanding of the information or data to identify and elevate opportunities.
  • Proactively identifies new ideas/opportunities from multiple sources or methods to improve processes.
  • Demonstrates an enthusiasm for learning new technologies, tools, and procedures.
  • Views difficult situations and/or problems as opportunities for improvement.

  • LIC-Licensed Nurse Practitioner - Tennessee
  • Relevant Work Experience
  • Less than 1 year of experience
  • Master's degree

Nice-to-haves

  • 2 Years of Prior Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Experience Strongly Preferred
