What are we looking for in a Medical Director Provides supervision, consultation and leadership to promote the delivery of clinical services which meet high standards for quality and effectiveness. Provides support to the Chief Medical Officer as requested. Provides medical care in accordance with specialty and client needs and clinical direction to staff. The care and direction is provided as a member of a multi-disciplinary team in the context of medical, moral, professional, ethical and legal matters within the policy and guidelines. Medical Director duties may include: Clinical Supervision Conducts and documents on-going clinical supervision consistent with Comprehensive Healthcare’s policies and procedures, and consistent with the requirements for the supervised employee’s professional credentials. Assesses clinical skills, gives constructive feedback, and provides (or arranges for) training and coaching to promote the development of technical skills, therapeutic approaches, and strength-based interventions appropriate for the client population served. Creates a continuing education plan and designs and tracks learning objectives to support new skill development consistent with job requirements. Leadership Provides direction, supervision, coaching, training and regular performance feedback to build employee skills and support progress toward goals. Creates training and development plans to support new employees to be successful. Assists with the development of the team budget and monitors budget throughout the year. Monitors program plan adherence to ensure quality service delivery. Collaborates with the Human Resources Department on hiring, retention and corrective actions. Communicates relevant matters to direct reports timely and effectively. Initiates and maintains projects or programs consistent with policy. Employment Practices Effectively and legally interviews applicants and makes appropriate staff selections. Follows policies and procedures for corrective action relating to staff performance. Provides sound supervision to all direct reports which include appropriate and frequent performance feedback. Supports employees in skill development and goal attainment. Completes performance evaluations in a timely and thorough manner. Appropriately utilizes the Human Resources Department as needed and required. Provides assistance in the development, implementation and oversight of the execution of critical clinical procedures. Assists in developing protocols for and provides consultation to staff as required. Provides input to enhance the function of quality assurance and utilization review activities. Promotes culturally competent and accessible services for all clients. Develops and implements plans to achieve cultural competence and effective access when indicators point to problems. Serves as primary liaison to the medical communities as requested. Assists in developing new programs and mental health services that are responsive to client/community needs, clinically effective and financially viable Assists in the identification of opportunities for program improvement or growth, defines potential strategies for consideration and assists in the development of approved programs and strategies. Assists in monitoring and evaluating clinical effectiveness of services against established outcome or performance indicators (agency, contractual, regulatory, etc.). Supports the development and implementation of clinical pathways and use of evidence-based practices for services to ensure most effective and cost-effective clinical practices. Participates in developing and implementing agency, clinical and administrative policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy and five years of experience in administration of community mental health services, including management of physicians, nurses and other mental health professionals.
  • Washington State Physician and Surgeon License, Board Certification in applicable specialty such as Psychiatry, Family Practice, Internal Medicine, etc. and Federal DEA Certification.
  • Credentialing requirements (e.g., state license/credential, NPI registration, DEA, peer certification, etc.): MD or DO active at start date, Board certified and active at start date, DEA certificate active at start date, NPI registration.
