About The Position

The Adult Intensive Services (AIS) Medical team at Aurora Mental Health & Recovery (AMHR) provides intensive psychiatric care to adult patients throughout the agency suffering from severe persistent mental illness (SPMI), first episode psychoses (FEP), coping with mental illness and developmental delay, homelessness, legal issues, and those who may be court ordered to receive mental healthcare. We are seeking an AIS Psychiatric Manager to oversee and manage the quality of psychiatric care provided by AIS prescribers. The AIS Manager coordinates services in consult with their clinical team counterparts and will also provide psychiatric care to AIS patients. Anticipated work time: 0.6 Clinical, 0.4 Administrative. The ideal candidate has experience treating all of the patients in the AIS continuum, is team-oriented in a multidisciplinary setting, self-motivated, is a life long learner, enjoys teaching and learning, has experience providing both IP and OP psychiatric care, and embraces Aurora Mental Health & Recovery's core values. About the team. The Adult Intensive Services Medical team provides intensive psychiatric care to adult patients throughout the agency suffering from severe persistent mental illness, first break psychoses, coping with mental illness and developmental delay, homelessness, legal issues and those who may be court ordered to receive mental healthcare. Schedule. This position will work Monday–Friday, 8am–5pm and is eligible for a hybrid model that allows for a mix of remote and in-office work, with an expectation of being in the office four days per week and working from home one day. This schedule may be adjusted based on training, patient, and community needs.

Requirements

  • Requires Doctor of Medicine / Osteopathy and completion of residency in Psychiatry
  • Licensure Required: MD or DO Board Certified Psychiatrist
  • Requires five (5) years of experience treating SPMI and/or I/DD inpatients/outpatients
  • Requires previous experience with Court Ordered Medication
  • Required Vaccination and TB Test.
  • AMHR has prioritized the health and safety of our clients and staff and requires all employees to receive an annual influenza (flu) shot and receive negative TB test results prior to their first day of hire. Proof of current flu shot and negative TB test will be required upon your first day of employment. Medical or religious exemption may be requested for the annual flu shot.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred: two (2) years of inpatient experience and two (2) years of outpatient experience
  • Preferred: ACT team or First break psychoses team experience
  • Preferred: previous management experience

Responsibilities

  • Lead employees, maintaining team focus and direction.
  • Hire, provide performance feedback and coaching, and termination of employees in accord with organization guidance.
  • Monitor work schedules and receive and approve requests for time off based on work volumes and staffing schedules.
  • Communicate with external stakeholders related to team accountability.
  • Cascade information from senior leadership to assigned team in alignment with organization strategy and goals.
  • Design and implement effective group and intergroup work and communication expectations.
  • Define and monitor group-level performance indicators.
  • Diagnose and resolve problems within and among work groups.
  • Manage the provision of quality care and services delivered by a multidisciplinary team in a comprehensive, collaborative manner with an emphasis on cultural sensitivity and in accordance with trauma-informed care guidelines.
  • Arrange appropriate training of staff to improve skills, including providing clinical supervision to patient care coordinators and medical assistants as appropriate.
  • Work cooperatively with all staff to provide a comprehensive range of services and ensure the smooth transition of patients from one service to another, including handling referrals and assignments to care coordinators and medical assistants.
  • Handle complaints from patients and community agencies in an efficient and satisfactory manner.
  • Identify unmet needs and other concerns in the department/program. Collaborate with Director of Medical Operations and senior leadership to develop strategies, services, and solutions to address identified issues.
  • Ensure that clinical and fiscal paperwork and online clinical records are correctly and promptly completed.
  • Interact with community agencies to improve services to clients and enhance the organization's image as a competent provider of mental health services and a committed and caring member of the community.
  • Advocate for organization's services in the community as appropriate.
  • Ensure that revenues to pay for services are documented and billable by the business office and that the funding source is known to the billing office.
  • Understand and adhere to budget for program.
