About The Position

Psychiatric Counselor The Psychiatric Counselor is responsible for conducting Psychosocial Assessments for patients 14 and up. This individual will provide individual, family and group therapy, coordinate Treatment Team/Planning for individual patients, and will be expected to coordinate and facilitate discharge planning for the patients by collaborating with families, support systems and referral sources. Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Social Work or Mental Health Counseling from an accredited school
  • Licensed SW/MHC, or Licensed eligible within 8 months of hire date preferred
  • Prior experience working with Behavioral Health/Substance Abuse patients and/or performing CAP assessments preferred

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Addiction Professional (CAP) preferred

Responsibilities

  • Conducting Psychosocial Assessments for patients 14 and up
  • Provide individual, family and group therapy
  • Coordinate Treatment Team/Planning for individual patients
  • Coordinate and facilitate discharge planning for the patients by collaborating with families, support systems and referral sources
  • Psychosocial interviews of clients age 14 and up, including geriatrics.
  • Facilitate individual, family and group therapy.
  • Act as a liaison for patients/families in Baker Act court Hearings.
  • Coordinate Treatment Team Meetings.
  • Liaison between Providers, patients and families.
  • Arrange discharge plans to appropriate community Providers, Agencies, or Long Term Placements.
  • Provide patient/family education regarding their diagnosis and treatment.
  • Provide staff and community education/services.
  • Perform CAP assessments throughout the hospital upon request for a consult.
  • Provide back-up coverage for ED psychiatric screeners and assist Psychiatric ED with Discharge/Transfer plans when needed.
