About TCHATT: Texas Child Health Access Through Telemedicine (TCHATT) delivers rapid access to behavioral health assessment and short-term intervention for youth referred through participating schools. The program provides secure telemedicine visits, supports crisis identification, and helps families connect to community-based treatment when needed. Job Summary: This hybrid role includes part-time outpatient Child & Adolescent Psychiatry (CAP) clinic responsibilities and part-time clinical work within the TCHATT program. In the outpatient setting, the psychiatrist will serve as an attending physician providing patient care and supervising fellows, residents, and other trainees. Within the TCHATT program, the psychiatrist will provide telepsychiatry evaluation, consultation, brief treatment, and coordination with school partners to support timely access to mental health care.

Requirements

  • Current Medical Doctor (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.) degree from an accredited school of medicine.
  • Residency training in Psychiatry
  • Fellowship training in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry
  • Current, unrestricted medical license to practice in the State of Texas
  • Board Certification or Board Eligible.

Responsibilities

  • Provide psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and ongoing care for children and adolescents.
  • Serve as supervising attending for CAP fellows, general psychiatry residents, and other learners.
  • Review and co‑sign trainee documentation; provide real‑time teaching and clinical oversight.
  • Support interdisciplinary collaboration with nursing, social work, and program staff.
  • Participate in case conferences, peer review, education, and division meetings.
  • Ensure compliance with documentation, billing, and regulatory requirements.
  • Complete tele-psychiatric assessments for students referred through TCHATT partner schools.
  • Diagnose and manage pediatric psychiatric conditions including mood, anxiety, ADHD, and crisis‑related concerns.
  • Provide brief treatment and medication management as clinically appropriate.
  • Collaborate with school counselors, teachers, and district staff to support referral pathways and student needs.
  • Provide consultation and training to school personnel on identifying mental health concerns.
  • Coordinate follow‑up recommendations and assist with transitions to ongoing community care.
