About The Position

Fairview is looking for a Psychiatric Associate to join our outstanding Adult Mental Health unit! Station 12 is an intensive treatment center, providing 24-hour care for the highest acuity mental health patients. These patients have co-occurring medical issues that broaden the psychiatric associate experience. Station 12 has many experienced psychiatric associates with a wealth of knowledge to provide new staff. We are conveniently located on the West Bank of the Mississippi River near downtown Minneapolis This role is approved for 48 hours, every two weeks on the night shift ( 11:00PM to 7:30AM), working 8-hour shifts, and every other weekend. The Psych Associate is responsible for the delivery of patient care and promotion of a therapeutic environment as delegated by and under the supervision of the RN so that the goals and objectives of treatment are achieved on each unit as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Basic Life Support Certification - from American Red Cross or American Heart Association

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in Psychology or Human Services Field
  • 2 years of experience working in the mental health field

Responsibilities

  • Maintains the safety of the patient and staff by conducting the following as assigned: Conducts safety checks of patients through visual observation and documentation.
  • Conducts room, belonging, and unit searches.
  • Responds and participates in de-escalation of the patient, including physical intervention as trained.
  • Actively participates in milieu management with treatment team collaboration.
  • Performs basic patient daily living routines and procedures according to the treatment plan: Demonstrates knowledge of signs/symptoms of diagnoses and interventions.
  • Conducts educational programming with individual and/or patient groups according to the appropriate treatment plan.
  • Responds to emergency situations as trained per policy.
  • Participates in the treatment team's mission, goals, and plans: Acts as a member of the multi-disciplinary therapeutic team.
  • Exhibits verbal communication in a timely, detailed, and professional manner.
  • Possesses knowledge of current issues, changes, and updates in Behavioral Services policies and procedures.
