About The Position
The Psychiatric Admissions Specialist position at VPCH involves a variety of supportive roles within the Vermont mental health system. The admissions staff is responsible for communicating and collaborating with Qualified Mental Health Professionals (QMHPs) and statewide hospitals to collect necessary documents for individuals under the custody of the commissioner of mental health. They distribute patient information to hospitals, enter data into automated systems, and safeguard patient valuables. The role also includes tracking wait times for patients in emergency departments and medical units to ensure timely transfers to accepting hospitals. Additionally, the admissions staff provides reception coverage after hours, assists visitors, and handles emergency situations, including coordinating with emergency responders and monitoring security systems.
