About The Position

Central Florida Behavioral Hospital is a 174-bed, private psychiatric center located in Orlando, FL. The hospital provides 24-hour emergency services. Central Florida Behavioral Hospital offers a full continuum of care including inpatient treatment services for children, adolescents and adults; and partial hospitalization, intensive out-patient and ECT services for adults. Website: Central Florida Behavioral Hospital | Orlando, Florida Click Here for a Virtual Hospital Tour Position Summary The Registered Nurse will provide nursing care for psychiatric patients, including child, adolescent, geriatric and chemical dependency patients using the nursing process. Duties include: assess mental health needs, develop nursing diagnoses, identify outcomes, plan and evaluate nursing care; administer and/or monitor the effects and side effects of medications and treatments ordered by a physician; to ensure safety and provide milieu management and crisis intervention strategies.

Requirements

  • Graduate of accredited school of nursing (Associate's Degree) required. BSN preferred.
  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Florida required.
  • Minimum of one (1) year related experience required. Psychiatric nursing experience is preferred.
  • Current Handle with Care, Verbal De-escalation and CPR Certification required (can be obtained upon hire)
  • Must be available to attend the full hospital and departmental orientations: Week 1: M-F 8 AM - 5 PM / Week 2: M & Tu 9 AM - 5 PM
  • Hours: Day Shift: 7 AM - 7 PM /Night Shift: 7 PM - 7 AM (Rotating Weekends Required)

Nice To Haves

  • BSN preferred.
  • Psychiatric nursing experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and direction to licensed vocational nurses, psychiatric technicians, and counselors. Direct milieu management.
  • Provide assessment of patients’ psychiatric and medical status.
  • Contribute to treatment plan as a member of interdisciplinary team.
  • Document nursing care, treatment, and patient’s response to treatment
  • Recognize signs and symptoms of mental health disorders and chemical dependency disorders and apply/utilize appropriate treatment interventions.
