The position is primarily responsible for conducting psychiatric evaluations, medication consultation and collaboration with care team as needed. The position will provide pharmacological treatment, if indicated, and request and review any needed lab work. Position collaborates with team members, care givers, external medical providers to oversee and promote the health and safety of clients throughout the treatment process. Completes Psychiatric Evaluations and ensures medical necessity for all individuals enrolled in the PHP and IOP programs. Provides medication management services for individuals enrolled in PHP as needed. Available on-site as scheduled and by telephone in unusual or urgent situations related to medication. Provides consultation, education and related information to patients and the families to increase success of treatment and program engagement. Collaborates as part of a multi-disciplinary team with staff on clinical treatment planning and recommendations. Completes medical record and other documentation in a timely and accurate manner as needed to meet clinical, payer and other requirements. Serves as first point of contact in addressing, supporting, and triaging patient’s physical complaints and discomfort. As part of the admission process and ongoing treatment, conducts patient medical assessment; (1) performs phlebotomy to collect blood for lab analysis, (2) completes comprehensive nursing assessment, (3) completes Electrocardiogram (EKG), (4) collection of basic vitals including height, weight, temperature, and blood pressure, (5) basic urinalysis testing. May lead a basic health and wellness group as part of clinical programming. Perform other activities as requested by the Medical Director and assume other appropriate medical responsibilities, as necessary.

Requirements

  • Must be a licensed Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner in the State of California.
  • Excellent communication skills working with patients, family members, community stakeholders and staff.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a behavioral health setting strongly preferred.
  • Clearance of TB test, fingerprinting and state clearance, and any other mandatory state/federal requirements
  • A valid Driver's license and a generally clean driving record are required.
  • Employees may be required to drive personal or company vehicles.
  • State licensing DHS and DSS prohibit individuals with specific criminal charges, conducted by Livescan fingerprint checks. Exemptions offered.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with mental health and RTC/PHP/IOP and/or psychiatric hospital experience preferred.
  • Experience with co-occurring disorders and/or substance use disorders a plus.
  • Performs duties independently, responsibly and with a high level of integrity.
