Requirements
- M.S. degree from accredited nursing school, nurse practitioner track.
- New Grads are welcome!
- Certified or eligible for certification as an Advanced Practice Nurse by a national certifying body as approved by the Illinois Department of Regulation APN Board, in Psychiatry or another approved specialty.
- Current and valid Illinois license as an Advance Practice Nurse.
- Fully Practice Authority is a plus.
- Certification as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP)
- Strong knowledge of mental health conditions and treatment options
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Compassionate and patient-centered approach to cares.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively in a team setting.
- Ability to maintain effective and professional relationships with patients and other members of the care team.
- Comfort working in a medical setting as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Strong communication and business acumen.
- Experience in working with a diverse population base preferred.
- Ability to appropriately handle confrontation and conflict.
- Ability to work independently and to seek consultation as necessary.
- Ability to follow organization and departmental processes and procedures.
- Ability to work in a high stress/fast paced/high work volume environment.
Responsibilities
- Conduct psychiatric evaluations and assessments to diagnose mental health conditions
- Develop and implement treatment plans that include medication management, therapy, and other interventions
- Monitor and evaluate patient progress, adjusting treatment plans as needed
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care
- Educate patients and their families about mental health conditions and treatment options
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records
