Requirements

  • M.S. degree from accredited nursing school, nurse practitioner track.
  • New Grads are welcome!
  • Certified or eligible for certification as an Advanced Practice Nurse by a national certifying body as approved by the Illinois Department of Regulation APN Board, in Psychiatry or another approved specialty.
  • Current and valid Illinois license as an Advance Practice Nurse.
  • Fully Practice Authority is a plus.
  • Certification as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP)
  • Strong knowledge of mental health conditions and treatment options
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Compassionate and patient-centered approach to cares.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively in a team setting.
  • Ability to maintain effective and professional relationships with patients and other members of the care team.
  • Comfort working in a medical setting as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Strong communication and business acumen.
  • Experience in working with a diverse population base preferred.
  • Ability to appropriately handle confrontation and conflict.
  • Ability to work independently and to seek consultation as necessary.
  • Ability to follow organization and departmental processes and procedures.
  • Ability to work in a high stress/fast paced/high work volume environment.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct psychiatric evaluations and assessments to diagnose mental health conditions
  • Develop and implement treatment plans that include medication management, therapy, and other interventions
  • Monitor and evaluate patient progress, adjusting treatment plans as needed
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care
  • Educate patients and their families about mental health conditions and treatment options
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records
