Requirements

• Masters in Nursing required.
• Post Masters Certificate - Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner required.
• Minimum of 1 year post-master's degree in a psychiatric setting with emphasis on care of patients with serious and persistent mental illness required.
• BLS certification required.
• NYS Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner License - Psychiatry required.
• Certification for Prescriptive Privileges (DEA) required.
• ANCC Board Certification in Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing within 120 days of hire required.
• Current Opioid Prescriber Training Certificate required.
• Current Infectious Certificate required.
• Must attend hospital crisis training program within 3 months of hire, and annually thereafter.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient evaluation and treatment in inpatient and ambulatory settings, including consultation services.
• Assume a leadership role with multidisciplinary treatment team members.
• Oversee clinical care of patients assigned to team.
• Ensure appropriate documentation of care.
• Provide on call and weekend coverage as needed and when scheduled.
• Perform history and physical examinations as required.
