About The Position

The Archdiocese of St. Louis strives to teach and share our faith, serve others, and foster unity throughout the St. Louis area.  Once a part of Kenrick-Glennon Seminary's campus, the Cardinal Rigali Center in Shrewsbury, MO is today the headquarters and curia (governing body) for the Archdiocese of St. Louis. Job Summary The Part‑Time PSR Teacher supports the mission of Holy Spirit Catholic Church by providing faith‑based instruction to children enrolled in the Parish School of Religion program. The PSR Teacher fosters spiritual growth, reinforces Catholic doctrine, and creates a nurturing environment that supports students’ faith development in partnership with families and parish leadership.

Requirements

  • Practicing Catholic in good standing
  • High school diploma or equivalent (Bachelor’s degree preferred)
  • Desire to work with children and support faith formation
  • Basic understanding of Catholic doctrine and Church teachings
  • Strong communication and classroom management skills

Nice To Haves

  • Teaching or catechetical experience
  • Current catechist certification or willingness to obtain certification
  • Experience working with children in a religious or educational setting

Responsibilities

  • Teach assigned PSR classes using the approved parish and diocesan curriculum
  • Present Catholic teachings in an engaging, age‑appropriate manner
  • Create a positive, respectful, and faith‑centered classroom environment
  • Prepare lesson plans and instructional materials as needed
  • Collaborate with the PSR Director and Learning Consultant for program alignment
  • Communicate effectively with parents regarding student progress and needs
  • Supervise students during class and parish activities
  • Attend required meetings, training sessions, and diocesan formation
  • Follow all parish policies related to child safety, attendance, and conduct
