About The Position

Summary: The Product Sales Representative intern will focus on projects to grow customer relationships and being the liaison between the customer and Account Manager. The individual will visit customer and crib locations as needed to promote and initiate product sales and solve customer problems. This individual will utilize manufacturer representatives to make joint sales calls throughout the year to promote products and provide training. The Product Sales Representative intern will expand their knowledge by interacting with the manufacturer representatives and attend product training seminars. This individual will learn to take and monitor inventory of the customer crib stock and could include occasional delivery. The PSR Intern will get an assigned mentor and have the opportunity to shadow roles throughout the company, participate in community impact initiatives, and visit different branch locations. This individual expresses behavior that supports our company culture (5 P’s) and our purpose: to create lasting value to those we serve. Key Responsibilities & Essential Functions: Customer-Facing Support: Spend most of the time at customers’ locations, maintaining inventory and ensuring customers have the parts they need. Inventory Management: Assist with stocking, organizing, and replenishing inventory at customer facilities, including Van Meter-owned or consignment stock. Order Processing: Gain insight into the operational process of taking in and managing orders, including data entry and system updates. Opportunity Identification: Observe customer operations and identify potential opportunities or solutions to share with Account Managers or Specialists. Hands-On Work: Participate in physical tasks such as taking inventory orders and putting away parts in customer cribs. Exposure to Automation: Learn more about automation and the environments we serve, gaining a broad understanding of Van Meter’s offerings.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate
  • Pursuing a degree in Business, Finance, Logistics, Supply Chain, or a related field.
  • Reliable transportation
  • Experience in Microsoft Office software: specifically, Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Strong customer service skills and ability to build relationships
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Willingness to learn, grow, and adapt to change
  • Comfortable with hands-on work in customer environments
  • Positive attitude and dependability
