About The Position

The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Utah is looking for a Student Admin/Clerical worker. This position will work closely with physicians, genetic counselors, genetic counselor assistants, and other staff to provide administrative and clerical support functions for the University of Utah Department of Pediatrics and Center for Pediatric Personalized Medicine at Primary Children's Hospital on the Gene Kids program initiative.

Requirements

• High School diploma.
• Currently enrolled as a student at the University of Utah.
• IRB CITI Course in the Protection of Human Research subjects certificate obtained within six months of hire.
• Demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assembles necessary documents and supplies.
• Effectively uses computer applications as needed in the office setting.
• Schedules, coordinates and monitors appointments.
• Maintains inventory of supplies, ordering and restocking as needed to ensure availability for patient care.
• Communicates with patients and providers via telephone, fax, email, and U.S. mail.
• Assists in coordinating program meetings and case conferences.
• Collects and tracks research consent from study participants.
• Follows techniques of clinical research and practices, FDA Good Clinical Practices (GCP), and clinical research standard operating procedures to ensure compliance with University of Utah and Intermountain policy and procedure, research sponsors and Federal rules and regulations.
• Tracks patient information, genetic test results, medical records, and family history and inputs information into tracking database.
• Other duties as assigned.

Benefits

• Part-time position with up to 19.2 hours per week.
• Pay rate up to $15/hr.
