About The Position

Rehabilitation Specialist manages the intake process and delivery of services for the Psychiatric Rehabilitation Program (PRP). Rehabilitation Specialist assists in implementation of an integrated service delivery system with other Changing Lives and Home Mental Health, Inc. programs and various community organizations.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from a CSWE accredited university or college.
  • Must be a Maryland licensed mental health practitioner or licensed in one of the Behavioral Health fields as one of the following (LGPC, LCPC, LGMFT, LCMFT, LMSW, LCSW-C) in Maryland.
  • First aid and CPR certification.
  • Valid state driver’s license, proof of auto insurance and ability to utilize personal car for travel within the region.
  • Knowledge of COMAR regulations for Adults and Children for Psychiatric Rehabilitation services.
  • Teamwork oriented, flexibility in working assignments and locations.
  • Research and training orientation to motivate employees.
  • Data management skills for evaluation and outcome measurement for program services.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, solution-focused problem solving skills.
  • Working knowledge of computer systems.
  • Excellent negotiation, interpersonal, analytical, oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively interact with Managing Members, community leaders, staff and clients.
  • Knowledge of professional standards and ethics for various disciplines.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with recruiting and interviewing prospective new hires
  • Provides orientation and training to new hires and on-going training of existing staff as needed.
  • Obtains initial authorization and re-authorization for PRP services from Optum Maryland.
  • Ensure the client profiles in our EMR are complete and accurate
  • Works with Rehabilitation Coordinators in organizing and directing groups activities for on site visits.
  • Provides oversight to all Rehabilitation Coordinators and takes responsibility for quality of services provided to clients.
  • Coordinates follow up contacts with parents/clients, encourages family involvement and works to overcome any barriers to treatment.
  • Works with Managing Members in evaluating performance of therapist assigned cases.
  • Supports final decisions of Managing Members even when there may be professional disagreements
  • Works effectively with Managing Members in managing any conflicts within the agency and exemplifies a high standard for teamwork and professionalism and other duties and assign.
  • Proactively identifies service delivery gaps, changes and problems and work to resolve these issues.
  • Participates in the resolution of crisis situations; assist with identifying individuals and resources that can provide direct support and/or immediate intervention during a crisis situation.
  • Serves as an advocate and encourages direct support staff to assume a proactive role in their rehabilitative process, including a mastery of skills.
  • Attend trainings, conferences, and view webinars on recovery, psychiatric rehabilitation, trauma, supported employment practices, practice guidelines, substance abuse and cultural competency. Keep apprised of new research and developments in these areas through journals and other resources.
  • Become knowledgeable of Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) Best Practices and emerging practices that will provide services to promote recovery and skill development.
  • Establishes, maintains and nurtures working relationships with referring and other community agencies to ensure a steady flow of eligible clients to program(s).
  • In consultation with Director of Mental Health, continuously consider new processes and initiatives to improve and/or expand services as appropriate.
  • Resolves problems encountered during daily operations, determines appropriate solutions, and promotes teamwork.
  • Provides information on program(s) goals and objectives, treatment plans, resources and other pertinent information to appropriate collaterals as needed.
  • Conducts hiring interviews and selects candidate(s) for job opening(s).
  • Provides work instruction, assists employees with difficult and/or unusual assignments, and encourages innovation.
  • Oversees quality assurance of the program.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Executive Team.
