About the position

The Project of the Quad Cities (TPQC) is a medical and social service non-profit provider with a focus on HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis C, STD, LGBTQ+ behavioral health, primary and specialty care. Under the direct supervision of a Licensed Mental Health Clinician, the Provisionally Licensed Behavioral Health Clinician provides mental health assessments, interventions, and consultations for individuals and groups with mental health and substance use disorders and develops treatment plans, coordinates modalities, and ensures adherence to treatment protocols for assigned clients.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of clients' mental health needs, including gathering relevant information about their history, current concerns, and goals for therapy.
  • Collaborate with clients to develop personalized treatment plans that address their unique needs and goals. Utilize evidence-based practices and adapt treatment strategies as needed.
  • Provide individual therapy sessions to clients using a variety of therapeutic modalities, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and mindfulness-based approaches.
  • Facilitate group therapy sessions on topics such as coping skills, stress management, and interpersonal relationships. Create a supportive and inclusive environment for group participants.
  • Coordinate care with other healthcare providers, social services agencies, and community resources to ensure holistic support for clients. Make appropriate referrals for additional services, such as psychiatric evaluation or substance abuse treatment.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of client sessions, assessments, treatment plans, and progress notes in accordance with TPQC policies and legal requirements.
  • Stay informed about current trends and best practices in the field of behavioral health. Participate in ongoing training and supervision to enhance clinical skills and knowledge.
  • Participate in TPQC committees and events as needed. Occasionally provide in-house training or consultation for other staff.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in social work, counseling, marriage and family therapy or a related field.
  • Currently Licensed Professional Counselor, Temporary Licensed Mental Health Professional, or MSW, MFT, and working toward independent licensure from the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation.
  • 6 months experience in a mental health setting (can include internship experience).

  • Professional or lived experience with LGBTQ+ communities.
  • Experience with individuals experiencing chronic disease or traumatic diagnosis.
  • Experience with people living with HIV.
  • Experience with historically oppressed/marginalized groups.
  • Experience with substance, alcohol and drug abuse.
