The Provider Data Specialist will maintain the data integrity of Alignment Healthcare’s (AHC) provider data-base. They will perform the data entry tasks for contracted providers, practitioners and facilities as directed by the Provider Data Management.

Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in provider services, healthcare services or as an IT clerk.
  • High School Diploma or GED. Bachelor's degree or four years additional experience in lieu of education.
  • Possess basic computer skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft applications.
  • Performs data entry with a minimum of 45 wpm.
  • Familiarity with Medical terminology; healthcare coding familiarity is a plus.
  • Effective problem solving, organizational and time management skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to communicate positively, professionally and effectively with others; provide leadership, teach and collaborate with others.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills; ability to establish and maintain a constructive relationship with diverse members, management, employees and vendors.
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations and calculate simple statistics correctly
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks; advanced problem-solving; ability to use advanced reasoning to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and design, implement and manage appropriate resolution.

Responsibilities

  • Inputs, uploads and updates provider demographic information in AHC’s database, including issuing termination dates and other necessary changes to existing records.
  • Assures the accuracy of the provider information in Alignment’s provider database.
  • Processes Change of Information (CIF) requests electronically via “Provider Data” mailbox in accordance with the timeline set forth by the department’s policies and procedures.
  • Assists the Provider Data Business Analyst in producing and timely filing all provider directories, ensuring their content is accurate.
  • Places calls as necessary to providers to verify demographic information.
  • Processes assigned monthly reconciliation reports for data integrity projects.
  • Ensures contracted medical groups comply with AHC’s provider profile requirements and CMS specialty type standards.
  • Tests and supports system integrations for AHC’s provider database as needed.
  • Delivers customer service for provider inquiries and network status, both internally and externally.
  • Maintains a precise and comprehensive filing system, including electronic files (CIFs, contracts), to track demographic information in AHC’s database, ensuring the security of both physical and digital records.
